| I began photographing weddings in the early 90’s using my Nikon N6006 SLR camera, a 50mm lens, 35mm film and a Vivitar flash unit that had to be set manually. Sure it was stressful never knowing for certain if you got the shot, but what developed transformed my life. It was love at first sight. I became aware of this passion inside me. I immediately became a hardcore fanatic. What attracted me most was the open and honest display of emotions. I began shooting weddings on a regular basis. I realized the inherent value and enormous power within the image as well as the freedom to create my own style. The idea that I could stop time, to preserve a special moment and to share this moment with someone else was priceless. Even after eleven years and approximately 500 weddings later, I am always struck by a feeling of honor and gratitude for being a part of such a significant experience in two individuals lives. Amanda Anthony is a Richmond based wedding photographer who blends her fine arts background with her unique and artistic style of wedding photography.
